TITLE: Using The Formula Overlap Button to Change Formula Priority PRODUCT: Improv for Windows 2.1 CHAPTER: 08-Writing Formulas BOOK: Improv Handbook DATE: 01/06/94 FAX NUMBER: 10293 Using The Formula Overlap Button to Change Formula Priority When you need to change formula priority, you use the Formula Overlap button on the status bar. Remember that when a cell or cells contain a formula overlap, the formula with the higher priority number calculates the cell. Before changing formula priority, formula 3 incorrectly calculates Net%Rev:Q1 [ILLU]. Clicking the Formula Overlap button displays overlapped formulas [ILLU]. Dragging formula 3 into the second position changes the formula priority [ILLU]. After changing formula priority, formula 3 correctly calculates cell Net%Rev:Q1. [ILLU] To change formula priority: 1. Select a formula involved in an overlap. 2. Click the Formula Overlap button on the status bar. Improv displays a formula overlap list. The formula with the highest priority number is currently calculating the cell or cells in question. 3. Select a formula in the list. 4. Do one of the following: Drag the formula slider up to position the selected formula so that it will have lower priority and will not calculate the cells. Drag the formula slider down to position the selected formula so that it will have higher priority and will calculate the cells. Improv automatically moves the selected formula into its new position in the formula pane and, if the setting for automatic marking is on, marks the cells calculated by the formula. For information, see "Marking Related Cells and Formulas" in this chapter. 5. If necessary, repeat step 4 until the formula priorities are the way you want them. 6. To close the formula overlap list, do one of the following: Click outside of the formula overlap list. Press ESC. Improv displays the formulas in the formula pane in their new order and recalculates the worksheet. (C) Copyright Lotus Development, 1995. All rights reserved
